About Le Lézard aux Plumes d’Or
Known in English as The Lizard with Golden Feathers, this project brings together Miró’s own poetry and lithographs. Published in 1971, the book combines 15 principal color illustrations with lithographic text and other printed elements. Black forms, bright colors and textured marks connect the imagery with the artist’s poetic language.

Edition and Identification Details
| Format | What to Check |
|---|---|
| 1971 illustrated book | 150 numbered copies within a total edition of 195. Copies are signed on the numbering page; individual illustrations may be unsigned. |
| Deluxe suites | Additional signed impressions are documented on Kochi Japan paper and parchment. Check the exact paper, numbering and suite contents. |
| Catalogue references | Cramer Books 148; Mourlot 789–828 covers the 1971 publication’s lithographic elements. |
| Earlier project | Related lithographs from 1967 require separate identification and should not automatically be matched to the 1971 edition. |
For a complete book or deluxe portfolio, include photographs of the title, numbering and justification pages, contents list, wrappers and case. The presence of an additional suite can change what constitutes a complete example.
Paper, Dimensions and Production
Louis Broder published the book in Paris, with lithographs printed by Mourlot. Book sheets are documented on Rives paper with a Miró watermark; deluxe suites use other supports. Many pages measure approximately 35.5 × 50 cm, while double-page compositions extend to roughly 100 cm unfolded. Record the actual sheet dimensions.
What Affects a Le Lézard Lithograph’s Value?
The specific composition, publication, paper, signature, numbering and condition influence an assessment. We also review provenance and comparable sales of the same edition. Complete books and deluxe groups require a completeness check. A signed impression or proof designation alone does not establish authenticity or a higher value. See our Joan Miró value guide.
